| Gary Scott has many diversified years in professional photography. His experiences have included worldwide travels during the Vietnam-era, as a U.S. Navy combat intelligence & photojournalist photographer. Assigned to the famed Atlantic Fleet Combat Camera Group, he documented classified assignments in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, & the Black Seas regions. Gary was exposed to many unique experiences before the age of 22. One of which was an international news incident that was published worldwide in the news media. In his free time he would photograph architecture & portraits of native countries' personalities from his travels.
Gary studied fine arts photography & film production at the University of Oregon. He studied under Bernard Fremesser & David Foster. While at the university, Gary had many single & juried shows. In 1979 he received his B.S. in Graphic Design. He then studied journalism & advertising in graduate school at the University of Oregon. While there he was a graduate teaching fellow in photojournalism assisting Duncan McDonald. Gary also conducted major research in television advertising formats. He also studied with Willis Winter & Steve Unwin. In 1982 he received his M.S. in Journalism.
Joining the corporate world, Gary worked for E. Leitz, Inc. (Leica cameras) where he was in charge of sales & marketing for eight Southern states. In 1986 he graduated from the Leica School in Wetzlar, Germany, and also made salesman of the year. In 1987 Gary joined Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. as a professional technical sales representative in charge of sales & marketing for Florida & Puerto Rico. In 2000 he moved to his native Northwest, (Portland, Oregon area) where he was in charge of sales & marketing from Alaska to New Mexico. He was awarded Western region salesman of the year in 2000.
In 2005 Gary created Gary L. Scott Photography. (Gary Scott Productions, Inc.) Drawing upon many years of creative & marketing experience, Gary offers a unique visual solution to his clients.
He was listed as a source of biographical reference in Marquis' Who's Who in America & the World. He is also a member of ASMP, American Society of Media Photographers, National Association of Naval Photography, and Lions Club International.
